Japanese Kento Momota lived up his expectations and is for the first time in a final on Danish ground. Feeling confident after his win, when asked if he will win DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2018 presented by VICOTR finale the answer was a prompt yes!

It’s been a month since Kidambi Srikanth and Kento Momota played each other last. The China Open 2018 final between the two titans ended with superior 21-9 21-11 for the top world ranked Japanese.

In the semi-finals, Srikanth was defending his title as winner of DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2017 presented by VICTOR, but despite his well delivered net drops, he could not keep Momota from entering the finals tomorrow.

First set started out with the two players following each other closely. After the break at 11, Momota seemed to change his tactics and took the lead.

- Srikanth plays close to the net, so after the break, I tried to get further from the net and change the timing, said Momota about taking the lead after 11-10.

During the duel at score 15-13 in favor of Momota, Momota’s popped a string. However, he managed to win the point. When the score reached 20-14, Srikanth delivered some good shots which secured him a few extra points until Momota took home first set with figures 21-16.

During the second set, Momota kept in control and Srikanth struggled to keep up. He made some errors and the impressive smashes that had helped Srikanth in the first game, didn’t do him many favors the second time around.

After the match Momota expressed gratitude and excitement on playing his first final in Denmark tomorrow.

- I like the atmosphere in the stadium and so many people come to support me, so I just want to do my best tomorrow.

Kento Momota will either face Dane Anders Antonsen or Chinese Taipei Chou Tien Chen at the finals tomorrow.
